Detective Conan Movie 14 Promotional Posters Leaked

December 4, 2009 by umandsf

The upcoming issue of Shonen Sunday has been leaked to show two posters pertaining to the upcoming Detective Conan, which will be named Tenkuu no Lost Ship (The Lost Ship in the Sky). This will mark the return of Kaitou Kid to the big screen in a few years. Gosho Aoyoma’s promotional art seems to suggest that Ran will confuse Kid for Shinichi (as speculated by a friend). The other poster contains a few images from the movie, with the armed group on the right and the shot of Ai being slapped on the left catching my eye the most. We’ll see if it’s any good. The movie will be released on April 17, 2010. Check out the posters after the jump.

New Super Mario Brothers Wii – Impressions

November 22, 2009 by umandsf

Well, I thought that my brother agreed to get this game for my birthday, so I decided it would be more convenient for me to get it and him to pay me the money when I go back in a couple of days. Turns out he is unable to pay me due to my mom being laid off of work at the moment. So now I’m $90 down (also got New Super Mario Brothers for Nintendo DS), but I have two great platformers with me. Since I don’t have my Wii as school, I thought I would have to wait until then to try it, but my friends and I left the ball early last night, so I decided to bring the game over to play on their Wii.

I decided to play with a friend who has video game experience but not so much Mario platformers (although she does have Super Mario Brothers for the Virtual Console. So we fired up New Super Mario Brothers Wii and set off for a little two-player romp through the Mushroom Kingdom. The outcome?

UPDATE: Apparently, there is a release date for the sixth movie that I had missed. Thanks, GinRei of DCTP!

Hooray! Let’s celebrate a momentary return with big enough news to continue with my procrastination of studying for this exam! According to an Amazon listing, the fifth movie in the Case Closed series, a Countdown to Heaven, will be out on DVD January 19, 2010, just a little under a month after the release of the two previous movies. The story, according to the listing, is as follows.

As the grand opening of a pair of towers nears, death and mayhem mars the fresh start to the architectural marvels. Conan, suspecting that the mysterious Black Organization that poisoned and left him for dead of being involved, goes to investigate, but soon finds himself in harm’s way, trapped, as the buildings are set to blow.

The sixth movie, The Phantom of Baker Street, still has no known release date will be released on February 16, 2010. However, that doesn’t stop me from declaring that this will be the best intersession ever!

New Trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks

November 6, 2009 by umandsf

A new trailer for Link’s next adventure on the Nintendo DS, The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, has been released. This trailer shows more gameplay and cutscenes about the story in the game, but the major focus of the trailer is who Link has accompany him on his journey. See the trailer first below, followed by my thoughts.

Ed, Edd n Eddy’s Big Picture Show to Air Next Sunday

November 1, 2009 by umandsf

Years after it was first announced, and after airing in other countries throughout the year, the movie event of the hit Cartoon Network animated series Ed, Edd n Eddy will finally make it’s North American debut at 7:00PM EST on November 8, 2009. It will be preceded by a weekend marathon of your favorite episodes. Oh, how I wish I did not have to work. I’ve been waiting for this and resisted to watch it on YouTube. Hopefully, I can find a way to view it. You can see the promo video after the jump (ignore the announcer’s claim that this is a world premiere…’cause it’s not).

Case Closed: The Last Wizard of the Century and Captured in Her Eyes Trailers

November 1, 2009 by umandsf

Photobucket

FUNimation has released trailers for their next two Case Closed movie releases: The Last Wizard of the Century and Captured in Her Eyes. Not really much I have to say about them. Just your typical trailer you can expect from this company. I will, however, point a few things out. First, it seems that the released date for the third movie was moved two weeks so that both movies are expected to be released on December 29, 2009. Also, note that The Last Wizard of the Century is Anita Hailey’s first movie appearance, while Miwako Sato makes her movie debut in Captured in Her Eyes, yet neither made an appearance (other than Miwako’s one scene and rather odd-sounding grunts), so quality of voice work for the two characters is still up in the air. Lastly, I never really noticed it, but the trailers for each present different styles. What I mean is that the first presents it more as a mystery to be solved, while the latter is shown to have quite a bit more action. This may very well be the case, as I’ve only seen the first three movies, but we’ll see at the end of the year. Expect my reviews to come early 2010.

DDR (Dance Dance Reset)

October 30, 2009 by umandsf

With the PS2 in the living room put in the common living area of the apartment by my friend, I decided to take advantage of this and my roommate having two DDR dance mats and me having my favorite two DDR games and use it to dance away a little weight as I have before. One of the things I like to do when I play games is to complete them, so I decided to do that by beginning with the basic of levels (Beginner) and work my way up. I figured you’re not a true master if you don’t wade through the boring simplicity. So after a week, I went through beginner in Dance Dance Revolution Extreme and Dance Dance Revolution Extreme 2, and began on my friend’s copy of Dance Dance Revolution Max 2. I even got my own PS2 memory card to not interfere with my friend’s. However, I was called last night to help a friend on a homework assignment. While there, she gets a call from said friend, informing me that the PS2 fried both memory cards when he tried to use it. Therefore, no longer can I use that system, but all my work is gone, even though I only had the card for less than a week. Looks like I’ll have to find something else to get all this extra poundage out.

So…what’s the point of this story? No reason. Just ranting. In other developments no one cares about, finally finished getting all English releases of Case Closed, so I now enter the waiting-two-months-for-new-releases period. Now, I have eight volumes and a rather free weekend. In celebration, let’s change the banner slightly.

I Play “Reborn the Blog!” and Resurrect Kogorou Mouri’s VA [UPDATE]

October 28, 2009 by umandsf

Not that anyone cares, but there has been a great lack of activity. This is easily seen by the fact that I never finished covering Saimoe (yay, Taiga!). I blame this mostly on the vast amount of work I have to do in college, my actual caring to do it, and yet another bout of battling my fanboyism. So I figured it’s appropriate now (my 21st birthday) to bring this back to life. The logical thing to do is to pick a theme and stick it with in reporting about it. Well, I’m not going to do that. I’ve decided that this is my journal, and I’ll just post whatever fancies me. Wait, that makes it a theme…Anyway, I’ll try to be more active and post random thoughts and whatnot. So…yeah. Off to next discussion point.

A few weeks ago, voice actor Akira Kamiya announced on his blog that he will cease to do the voice of famed bumbling detective Kogorou Mouri from the Detective Conan anime series after 13 years. Well, yesterday, it was announced that he will be replaced by fellow voice actor Rikiya Koyama, who has done minor work for the series and has an extensive history of voice work. Nothing I’ve actually seen, so I have no idea how good he is at his job. Most people are concerned that he will not be able to replicate Kamiya’s raspy voice, but I think it’ll be okay. I’m sure they’re not going to go with something really different, knowing that will not please most fans. Now all we can do is sit and wait to see which episode will mark his debut.
